III. General information on data processing

1. Scope of the processing of personal data

As a rule, we process our users' personal data only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services. Processing generally takes place only with the user's consent. An exception applies where processing is permitted by law and prior consent cannot be obtained for factual reasons.

2. Legal basis for the processing of personal data

  • Article 6(1)(a) GDPR: where the data subject has given consent.
  • Article 6(1)(b) GDPR: for contractual relationships or pre-contractual measures.
  • Article 6(1)(c) GDPR: where the University is subject to a legal obligation.
  • Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: where the University or a third party has a legitimate interest, provided that the data subject's overriding interests or fundamental rights do not take precedence.

3. Data erasure and storage period

Personal data is erased or blocked as soon as the purpose for which it was stored no longer applies. Data may be stored for a longer period where European or national law requires this. Data is also erased when statutory retention periods expire, unless it remains necessary for entering into or performing a contract.

4. Hosting of the website

Our website is provided via GitHub Pages, a service operated by GitHub Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
When our website is accessed, GitHub automatically collects and processes access data in server log files. This may include in particular:

  • IP address,
  • date and time of the request,
  • browser type and version,
  • operating system,
  • referrer URL.

This data is processed exclusively to provide and ensure the secure technical operation of the website.
